Missouri’s Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday Offers Savings and Encourages Business Growth

The State of Missouri is once again offering taxpayers a valuable opportunity to reduce expenses while supporting energy efficiency and local businesses. From April 19 through April 25, the Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday will waive state sales tax on qualifying ENERGY STAR® certified appliances, up to the first $1,500 of each eligible item purchased.

This annual initiative is part of Missouri’s ongoing effort to promote energy conservation and economic activity while increasing revenues for local businesses across the state.

Eligible appliances include a range of household necessities such as:

  • Clothes washers and dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Refrigerators and freezers
  • Air conditioners

To qualify for the exemption, appliances must carry the ENERGY STAR® label, which signifies that the product has been independently certified to meet stringent energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These products are designed to reduce energy consumption and can result in long-term cost savings for consumers.

For individuals considering appliance upgrades or replacements, this tax holiday provides a timely financial incentive. In addition to immediate tax savings, ENERGY STAR® appliances may also contribute to reduced utility bills over time.

More information, including a detailed list of qualifying items and frequently asked questions, is available through the Missouri Department of Revenue at:
